A fantastic opportunity to join a hugely successful contractor in Buckinghamshire as a Bid Manager

This multimillion pound construction company work across Building, Civil Engineering, Sports & Leisure, Demolition and Rail

You will enjoy working in an open plan office in a relaxed, lively environment. The company have retained their family feel, you will work alongside the Directors, decisions are made quickly and you will not be bound by systems.

This role is available due to substantial growth – the Civil Engineering department now turnover £200m alone (company forecast is over £600m this year) The company are cash rich and own everything and have their own Plant Hire Company. People want to work with/ for them as they pay their subbies on time

The company have lots of internal support/ expertise and have their own Geotechnical Engineer and Temporary Works Manager

You will be working on Civil Engineering schemes (roads, bridges, earthworks, external slabs etc)

The Role – Bid Manager

Working within a committed and driven preconstruction team managing bids

You will be joining a Senior and Principle Bid Manager and will be supported by 6 Estimators, 6 Planners and the proposals team

Schemes – You will be working on Civil Engineering schemes (roads, bridges, earthworks etc)

Responsibilities:

Taking ownership of the bid collation process from receipt of documents to upload of final responses and through post-tender periods
Providing strong focussed leadership, management, direction and support to bid teams
Understanding and aligning bid strategy with client drivers, customer needs and key stakeholder requirements
Allocation of all tender deliverables and internal deadlines
Agreeing specific roles and responsibilities for each team member
Organising and chairing tender launch, mid-tender and settlement meetings
Arranging “Organise for Win / Quality” workshops including liaison with Business Development for key bid intelligence
Attending client presentations, meetings, site visits, interviews and feedback sessions
Developing methodologies, risk controls, innovations, VE and alternatives. Working closely with internal technical support and supply chain / technical specialists
Organising commercial and operational peer reviews
Reviewing and ameliorating submissions produced by others to ensure they answer the tender questions and target top marks
Managing the compilation and submission of final tender responses
Continuing as main point-of-contact for clients through result / contract / post-contract
Building relationships with clients / designers / key stakeholders
Engaging with key package sub-contractors / supply chain

The right person – Bid Manager

You will be an experienced Bid Manager with Civil Engineering experience

You will ideally have a design background

25 days holiday – increasing up to a maximum of 30 depending on length or service

The company will contribute 6% if you contribute 2%

Bonus up to 20%
